Good Eating Tuesday: Southern Fudge Pie!

 Today's treat is recipe I found on Pinterest for "Southern Fudge Pie!" This is yummy and easy!  It was a huge hit with all my company this past Sunday night! The photo is my pie. The recipe is for foil pie pan with a crust ready-made you can pick up in your grocery freezer section. It's not a very thick pie, so you don't want to use anything bigger. I sprinkled just a touch of powdered sugar on top to make it look pretty! Southern Fudge Pie Ingredients 1 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup flour 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1./2 cup butter, melted (= one stick) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 large eggs, beaten 1 pinch of salt 1 regular pie shell Directions: In a medium bowl combine sugar, flour, cocoa powder & salt. Add melted butter and stir in. Now add the beaten eggs & vanilla and stir in. Pour into a regular pie shell Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. When I used to work at the flower shop, one of the ladies I worked was always baking different kinds of cakes. Cakes I'd never heard of, like Hummingbird Cake or Orange Slice Cake. Since I have a sister who likes Orange Slice Candy, I looked up a recipe for Orange Slice Cake to email her and that's when I learned more about it. What Orange Slice Cake is, is an old-fashioned cake popular in the Deep South during the Christmas season. Baked in a bundt pan, it's Southern version of a fruitcake, but with orange slice candy, nuts, dates & coconut and none of the usual candied fruit.  It's also typically an heirloom recipe passed down from one generation to the next.  I've decided I want to try making one sometime in January and am going to put the recipe here, because my blog is also my "recipe box."
