Choice Morsels

This past weekend we enjoyed a USO show on base: Gary Sinise & The Lt. Dan Band! It was just for those with base access. They put on a fabulous show with a wide variety of songs with plenty of audience interaction! Mr. Sinise played Lt. Dan in the film Forrest Gump, portraying a handicapped Vietnam Veteran who struggled with life after the war, a character real military veterans connected to.  (He asked our audience if there was anyone older then 15 who hadn't seen Forrest Gump? A lady raised her hand and he humorously said, "Well you keep watching TV. You're bound to run into it sometime, since it's on somewhere in the world everyday, all the time."   Everyone laughed. Speaking on behalf of his Foundation in New York. He and his band have been touring, entertaining the troops on bases everywhere since 2004. His piano player has been with the band since then. Gary Sinise is also well known for his role as Mac Taylor on CSI: New York. ...

The Mama Kat challenge today is to, "List 7 things I like/love about a TV character." The Mama Kat challenge this week is to, "write 7 things I like or love about a favorite TV character." So, what TV character to pick? I watch several shows regularly, but could only think of one with a character worth listing anything about and that's Jack Garrett from Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. First, what's this show about? It's a show about a team of FBI agents who specialize in solving crimes and rescuing Americans who find themselves in danger in other countries. Jack Garrett, played by Gary Sinise, leads the team. Gary Sinise is also a Producer on the show and he brings certain qualities to police show he produces that I like:  a sense of family fellow characters, a bit of faith and always a measure of compassion.  7 Things I Like About Jack Garrett: #1)  It's Gary Sinise playing the role.   So, we have a floor installation date for the end of February. (Pic on left is the tile color we've picked, though it's sooo much prettier in person. Picture does not do it justice.  This is 4 squares, grouted.)     Certainly the quickest installation date I've ever set up for anything floor related. We re-carpeted the bedrooms several years ago and had new vinyl applied in our master bath and it took 6 weeks just to come in. So, this is fast.   Everything I was afraid might happen never did: *I was afraid the sales person would try to up-scale us into a pricer floor, like ceramic. Didn't happen. He just went with what we were interested in. *I was afraid we'd be told we'd have to be responsible for removing the old vinyl ourselves.
