Mama Kat Thursday: Pinterest Tries!

It's Mama Kat Prompt Day and today's topic is:
"Something you've recently tried from your Pinterest board."

Honestly, there's more in Pinterest then any one person could try in a life time, but I have given a few things a whirl.
I mostly follow recipes and gardening tips and generally just "like" things I'm interested in trying for later reference.
So far, I've tried the following:

Baked Sliced Potatoes:
Slice potatoes (2lg) into very thin slices (1/4 inch). Toss potatoes in (3Tbsp) olive oil, Italian seasoning (1tbsp) and salt (1tsp) in a ziplock bag to coat. Place in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake at 450 for 15 -20 minutes, until lightly brown. Top with Parmesan cheese and bake an additional 5 minutes.
Verdict: Yummy! Will make again.

                                Hydrangea Tip:
Put a couple of pennies in the soil with your hydrangeas to turn them blue.
Verdict: Still Waiting. I put a penny under every blue Hydrangea I have, but most are too young to be blooming yet.

 4 Ingredient No-Bake Cheesecake
5 minute / 4 ingredient no bake cheesecake:  1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1 8oz tub Cool Whip, 1 package cream cheese completely softened, 1/3 cp lemon or lime juice.
Verdict: This picture is misleading and not what the final product looks like. Cake comes out white, not creamy yellow. Tastes okay. I have a problem finding 8 ounce size Cool Whip where I shop. I'll have to look up an equivalent cup amount, but plan on trying it again. Also directions for a crust aren't included. That's DIY.

Angel Food & Pie Filling Cake:
2 ingredient cake. Mix together, 1 Angel Food cake mix (dry) and 1, 20 or 22 ounce can of fruit pie filling.  Bake in an ungreased 9x13 pan at 350 for 28-30 minutes. It will puff up during baking, then sink again while as it cools.
Verdict:  Works better with less juicy pie fillings, like Cherry or Apple. I tried Blueberry Filling, but a whole can of that ended up making the cake soggy in the middle. For juicy fillings, like blueberry, lemon or keylime I'd suggest using only a portion of the can (3/4?) and save the last bit for a drizzle topping once it cools.

But using a whole can of Cherry or Apple works fine.

Looks yummy. As for the cheesecake recipe... I know that when I use the French Vanilla Cool Whip, it is MUCH more yellow and creamy... Visiting from Mama Kat!

This is great. I actually have heard of the penny thing. Other than braiding my youngest daughter's hair, with much resistance from her, I haven't tried anything on my boards. I guess wearing some clothes and following a few make up tips may count. The cake looked great in the photo!!!

I love this list and how thorough you were with your verdicts! I'm still curious about the Hydrangeas!
