Garden Pic Wednesday: Snake Iris!

This is a very small, unique looking Iris with light yellow-green center petals and black-purple outer "flag"petals. It's a miniature form of Iris. I planted a grouping of it spring of 2019 in a container. I have out front. This spring it bloomed. Three blooms so far and perhaps more to come. The center of the container it grassy it's narrow leaves.
The blooms don't last long--only a day or two, but I expect an better and better show as they multiply from year to year!

It's a vintage Velveeta back-of-the-box recipe that my Mom made when I was growing up and that I still make!  Who can resist Velveeta?  The hubby loves it.  I usually make it for him for his birthday and generally fairly often during the winter months. A white ceramic kitty peeks out from behind Hosta that's between Red Saliva and  Pink Million Bells in my front garden container! **** A stone Hippo swims among wood chips beneath  a Curly Parsley in a container  on the back patio! Mama Kat Thursday: The Big Win

The Mama Kat writing prompt today is, "You won an award sometime in your life...what was it for?" After the military I went to a two-year college to study Commercial Art.  During the course of that study, our instructor presented us with an class project for the Indiana State Fair. They wanted to decorate their Pioneer Building on the State Fair Grounds in Indianapolis with 6 symbolic logos representing topics like Agriculture, Industry, Hoosier Travel and so on. It was a class contest and the State Fair committee would select the winning design. Indiana State Fair Grounds Now the Indiana State Fair is a massive affair. It's huge.  It has two sides with a horse track in the middle. This photo shows the main side that includes the Coliseum, numerous permanent barns for livestock and horses plus the permanent exhibit halls that showcase exhibits, like 4-H projects from clubs all over the state. This is for the "Write On Edge" Writers Prompt for this week:   the challenge was to pick an event or instance from your life and give it a title and write a tag line for it, like a title and tag line for a book. So here's my title and tag for an event in my life. Nineteen Hours to Ankara      Stranded in Istanbul, her connecting flight canceled, a huge suitcase in hand and no way to contact anyone, Adele was trapped with two Turkish businessmen determined to escort her all the way to her destination by train---but could she really trust them?         Only the name is fiction. The rest is true. Quite a complicated situation and no cell phones back then.    Life is full of adventures.

Mama Kat Thursday: Surprise Birthday Back-Fire!

 Today's Mama Kat prompt is to write about, "a time you did something sneaky." Once upon a time, we had two guys in our military singles Bible Study group named Rod and Bruce. They were room-mates in a house off-base. Rod's 26th birthday was coming up and Bruce got the brain-storm to throw Rod a surprise birthday party. His plan was to distract Rod and get him away from the house by suggesting to Rod that they go to some Chinese restaurant to eat, but it would be a Chinese restaurant he "couldn't quite remember the location of," so they'd be out driving around while we set up the surprise party at Rod's house. We brought cake and blew up balloons. There was about a dozen of us.
