Garden Pic Wednesday: Favorite Daylily

This week I transplanted my baby Shasta Daisy plants I had in a "nursery pot."  The seedlings were arranged in pairs, because there were sooo many. So the transplants were 2 seedings together, about 24 pairs altogether.
It's a perennial, but not one that lasts forever---4 or 5 years perhaps.
We shall see.

Today's Garden Pic is my Favorite Daylily:
It's a true crimson red with a neon lime-yellow eye. Quite stunning.
I was taking pictures and didn't even notice the little sweat bee resting on a petal there.

Mama Kat Thursday: Best of the Police Blotter

I wasn't inspired to use any of this weeks actual Mama Kat prompts, but there's been a number of amusing incidents reported around town in our local newspaper Police Blotter and I decided to share those.  Hubby and I often get a laugh out of some of the reports, because people are either just dumb or kinda weird. So, here it is, the best of the Police Blotter: On Jan 12, police stopped a car traveling 100 mph in a 45 mph zone. The driver said she was not aware she was going that fast, but thought she was "just cruising."  She was handed a speeding ticket and an opportunity to tell it to the judge. ***** On Jan 18, police responded to a call from a woman who said she'd been jumped by a man and two women who struck her over the head with a pistol. The victim said the suspects had been looking for marijuana because she deals marijuana. Garden Pic Wednesday: Dark Lady Tiger Swallowtail!

Hubby and I make a weekly hobby of reading the Police Blotter that comes in the free local Wednesday paper to see what weird things are going on in our town:   Here's a couple highlights from this week: * A guy riding along on roadway on his bike reported several unknown persons in a gray van chased him, attempted to take his picture, asked for his I.D. and tried to block  him,  he continued to ride away until he crashed on Cedar Dr.  (He crashed ? That's it? But there was nothing more in the report.) * Police responded to a local Tom Thumb Convenience Store where a woman was reported yelling and creating a disturbance . Police arrived, spoke with her. Good Eating Monday: Peach Cobbler Dump Cake!

Yes, I tried another new Pinterest recipe and this one is a winner! The primary dictionary definition of a "Dump Cake," is an easily made cobbler in which cake mix is dumped over canned fruit or pie filling.  This recipe was pinned from Del Monte, which means it's been a recipe that's been created & tested in a corporate test kitchen. That's one benefit of all those label, can & box recipes provided by manufacturers on their product packaging. You can even buy cookbooks featuring nothing, but package & label recipes of which many are vintage. The only changes I'd suggest is add one more 15 oz can of fruit. It can be more peaches, cherry fruit cocktail, regular fruit cocktail or whatever you want. (So, I've noted 4 cans of peaches in the recipe.)   It just needs a little more volume on the fruit quantity.  And stir a teaspoon or two of cinnamon into the fruit! Garden Pic Wednesday: December Blooms

   Welcome back!    I'm sitting here with a cup of coffee and a snack size Mounds bar. (My favorite!) My husband got me one of those boxes of 8. I keep them in the freezer and have one after lunch, maybe every other day or so, depending on what I eat for lunch. I've discovered coconut milk creamer and love that in my coffee now! Only about 5 calories for a cupful and so full of good-for-you stuff! (It doesn't taste like coconut!)   We had a good rain the past couple days and today I went around with my watering can of Miracle-Gro just now to the broccoli and various blooming or bulb flowers. I have ever-blooming southern strawberries that like to start blooming now, but I've decided to nip their blooms thru January, because the berries only freeze.
