Garden Pic Wednesday: White Daylily First Bloom!

Today's Garden Pics:

My White Daylily:
Though, among Daylilies, "white" is more a creamy white with a trace of yellow in the center. It's relatively new. I bought and planted this one 2 years ago and this is it's first bloom! It's petals have a ruffled edge and the greenery is tall and doesn't die back during winter. (some do)
I grow these special colored hybrid daylilies in particular to photograph.


 


And a Balloon Flower:
The bud just prior to opening looks like a hot air balloon, thus the name. 
I like it because it is a blue flower.

Have your Turkey yet? I saw frozen Turkeys in passing carts last weekend when we were shopping. Do you cook a whole bird? Bake it? Fry it? Buy one ready-cooked or smoked? Mama Kat Thursday: What Happened to My Rug?!

The Mama Kat I chose today is to, "share a recent purchase."   L uckily, I happened to have made one. It's actually got a weird, amusing back-story. I have several braided rugs in my living room that are square red, blue & tan colored, like this one, pictured. One a large area rug, one is a 5 x 7 in the entry and two are 3 x 5.  One of those 3 x 5's is in front of this sliding glass door, here. We've had these rugs about 7 years now, since we had the floor redone. Well, this past week, I decided to clean several of those rugs with 409 spray & vacuum rug cleaner. Once it dried, I vacuumed. When I got to this rug in front of the sliding glass door, my Hoover vacuum suddenly snagged the rug's corner, sucking it up on the brush. I turned off the vacuum to un-snag it and when I pulled it out, the braid on the corner was torn away. Good Eating Monday: Peach Cobbler Dump Cake!

Yes, I tried another new Pinterest recipe and this one is a winner! The primary dictionary definition of a "Dump Cake," is an easily made cobbler in which cake mix is dumped over canned fruit or pie filling.  This recipe was pinned from Del Monte, which means it's been a recipe that's been created & tested in a corporate test kitchen. That's one benefit of all those label, can & box recipes provided by manufacturers on their product packaging. You can even buy cookbooks featuring nothing, but package & label recipes of which many are vintage. The only changes I'd suggest is add one more 15 oz can of fruit. It can be more peaches, cherry fruit cocktail, regular fruit cocktail or whatever you want. (So, I've noted 4 cans of peaches in the recipe.)   It just needs a little more volume on the fruit quantity.  And stir a teaspoon or two of cinnamon into the fruit!
