Garden project this week was re-adjusting the pavers edging my Hosta bed on the north side of the garage. They were in a bit of a mess.

The Mama Kat blog prompt for today is: "Share a favorite recipe from your childhood that you still make today." Golden Meatball Casserole. It's a vintage Velveeta back-of-the-box recipe that my Mom made when I was growing up and that I still make!  Who can resist Velveeta?  The hubby loves it.  I usually make it for him for his birthday and generally fairly often during the winter months. It's rich, cheesy and delicious skillet meal that only takes about 40 minutes to put together in total, including prep time--as long as you use frozen meatballs! For this recipe you'll need either a large skillet ,12-inches diameter size or a 16-inch size electric skille t. Either will work. Mama Kat Thursday: Fine Memories of Summer

The Mama Kat blog prompt topic for today is,: "Dig into your photo files and show us some of last summer's memories you want to re-live!" So, I dug around in my "photo trunk" to find some bright & sunny garden memories from last season I particularly enjoy! Lots & LOTS Of Black Swallowtail Caterpillars! I grow Dill & Parsley in particular for my little guests and the tall Dill was host to around 10 caterpillars! Red Climbing Rose This set of roses grace a pair of trellis's along the front walk to the house! Brown Belted Bumble Bees Loved Last Year's Zinnias! You can tell by the pollen on the leg this is a busy female worker bee!  Sometimes I'd find  drones  napping  on these flowers. Mama Kat Thursday: Fall Chili Recipe

That's the Mama Kat prompt for today, "Share A Fall Recipe." And I have the perfect one for October! Orange & Black Chili (With Sweet Potatoes & Black Beans!) I found and tried this recipe last Oct and since then have made it my annual Halloween tradition--since it is black and orange! It was originally meatless, but I find "meatless" doesn't stick to the ribs very well, so my version includes ground meat. Ingredients: 1 Tbsp  + 2 tsp olive oil 1 lb ground meat of your favorite type 1 med-large sweet potato peeled & cut up. This is for the "Write On Edge" Writers Prompt for this week:   the challenge was to pick an event or instance from your life and give it a title and write a tag line for it, like a title and tag line for a book. So here's my title and tag for an event in my life. Nineteen Hours to Ankara      Stranded in Istanbul, her connecting flight canceled, a huge suitcase in hand and no way to contact anyone, Adele was trapped with two Turkish businessmen determined to escort her all the way to her destination by train---but could she really trust them?         Only the name is fiction. Mama Kat Thursday: Surprise Birthday Back-Fire!

 Today's Mama Kat prompt is to write about, "a time you did something sneaky." Once upon a time, we had two guys in our military singles Bible Study group named Rod and Bruce. They were room-mates in a house off-base. Rod's 26th birthday was coming up and Bruce got the brain-storm to throw Rod a surprise birthday party. His plan was to distract Rod and get him away from the house by suggesting to Rod that they go to some Chinese restaurant to eat, but it would be a Chinese restaurant he "couldn't quite remember the location of," so they'd be out driving around while we set up the surprise party at Rod's house. We brought cake and blew up balloons. There was about a dozen of us.
