Garden Pic Wednesday: Red Lantana

Garden Pic today is Red Lantana.
I have 3 colors of Lantana presently: this red, a pink and yellow. It likes full sun. Bees and butterflies love it. It's extremely draught hardy and doesn't need a lot of watering. Plus it roots very easily, if you want more of your favorite color, just by snipping stems and sticking them in small pots of soil, allowing them to root, then transplanting as desired.

The Mama Kat writing topic today is to write a post inspired by the word, "Puddle." In Florida it rains. It rains a lot. Sometimes, that rain leaves broad puddles of standing water. Sometimes those puddles are on the road. On this particular day where our story begins, Hubby and I were in our Kia SUV driving west through our small town toward the Air Force Base. The road was mostly dry from an earlier downpour, but there were still some spots of standing water.  We stopped at a red light at a busy intersection along with other cars and one motorcycle. We were in the right hand lane. There was a car ahead of us and one beside us. The car beside us had a guy on a motorcycle directly behind him and the motorcycle guy was boxed in by more cars beside and behind him.  He was a young man on a medium street bike just wearing a shirt, jeans and a helmet. Good Eating Monday: Peach Cobbler Dump Cake!

Yes, I tried another new Pinterest recipe and this one is a winner! The primary dictionary definition of a "Dump Cake," is an easily made cobbler in which cake mix is dumped over canned fruit or pie filling.  This recipe was pinned from Del Monte, which means it's been a recipe that's been created & tested in a corporate test kitchen. That's one benefit of all those label, can & box recipes provided by manufacturers on their product packaging. You can even buy cookbooks featuring nothing, but package & label recipes of which many are vintage. The only changes I'd suggest is add one more 15 oz can of fruit. It can be more peaches, cherry fruit cocktail, regular fruit cocktail or whatever you want. (So, I've noted 4 cans of peaches in the recipe.)   It just needs a little more volume on the fruit quantity.  And stir a teaspoon or two of cinnamon into the fruit! Mama Kat's Writing Prompt for this week is a fun one:  " Put together a holiday outfit you'd love to wear at a holiday party should a holiday party ever be on your list of things to do." This concept requires 2 things: #1)  First, imagining I have an unlimited budget and can buy whatever I want. #2) Second, also imagining I might  actually have someplace fancy to go that requires such an outfit, like, for example, an upscale Christmas party at a plush Destin hotel. Now that we have the ground rules settled, we can look at the clothing catalog photos I selected for my "ideal party outfit." Now I love a lot of things I see on those oh-too-skinny models in on-line catalog photos, but I'm not a long-waisted, hipless, bustless, skinny-minny like they are.
