Garden Pic Wednesday: Holly Tree Blossoms!

Today's Garden Pic is a nice shot of my Oakland Holly Tree in bloom that even includes a little Honey Bee!
This was in Feburary. The Bees loved it.
Hopefully that will mean berries for the birds later on!
You can see the new pretty lighter color shoots of growth!

It's a vintage Velveeta back-of-the-box recipe that my Mom made when I was growing up and that I still make!  Who can resist Velveeta?  The hubby loves it.  I usually make it for him for his birthday and generally fairly often during the winter months. It's rich, cheesy and delicious skillet meal that only takes about 40 minutes to put together in total, including prep time--as long as you use frozen meatballs! For this recipe you'll need either a large skillet ,12-inches diameter size or a 16-inch size electric skille t. Either will work. The Mama Kat blog prompt topic for today is,: "Dig into your photo files and show us some of last summer's memories you want to re-live!" So, I dug around in my "photo trunk" to find some bright & sunny garden memories from last season I particularly enjoy! Lots & LOTS Of Black Swallowtail Caterpillars! I grow Dill & Parsley in particular for my little guests and the tall Dill was host to around 10 caterpillars! Red Climbing Rose This set of roses grace a pair of trellis's along the front walk to the house! Brown Belted Bumble Bees Loved Last Year's Zinnias! You can tell by the pollen on the leg this is a busy female worker bee!  Sometimes I'd find  drones  napping  on these flowers. Mama Kat Thursday: Best June Photos

The Mama Kat prompt topic today is: "Share your top favorite photo you took in June. Give us the back story." I didn't expect it.  I'm always wondering around my garden, photographing flowers. I had my lens focused on a pink Zinnia. Then, just a split second before I clicked, something flew into the frame and landed on the flower. I couldn't really see it until I put the photos on my computer--then there it was. A little sweat bee posing for a pic! ******** He saw me and froze.  He was really enjoying himself, eating the dried out popcorn on the ground that I throw out for the birds. I saw him, grabbed my camera and stepped out the sliding glass door.  As soon as I did, he froze where he was, popcorn in his beak, keeping an eye on me until I went back in the house.  Then he finished his kernel and searched for another piece. Mama Kat Thursday: Surprise Birthday Back-Fire!

 Today's Mama Kat prompt is to write about, "a time you did something sneaky." Once upon a time, we had two guys in our military singles Bible Study group named Rod and Bruce. They were room-mates in a house off-base. Rod's 26th birthday was coming up and Bruce got the brain-storm to throw Rod a surprise birthday party. His plan was to distract Rod and get him away from the house by suggesting to Rod that they go to some Chinese restaurant to eat, but it would be a Chinese restaurant he "couldn't quite remember the location of," so they'd be out driving around while we set up the surprise party at Rod's house. We brought cake and blew up balloons. There was about a dozen of us. As a gag, Bruce had also suggested we might all put on some article of Rod's clothing, so we raided his closet for hats, ties, jackets and so on.
