Today's Garden pics are a few shots of white & purple button chrysanthemums, dwarf marigolds and dusty miller I have planted along the walkway to the front door under my kitchen bay window along with a few pinecones for a fall feel.

My life journey transitioned in 2020 when my husband of 38 years unxpectedly died in December that year. I was numb for months, yet still functioning thru day to day life. The Lord sustained me, granting me insights into my husbands death.  Now, looking back aside from those high-points, that first year is kind of a blur. Friday Finds: Coffee Grounds in the Garden

Today's "find" is using Coffee Grounds in the garden! I usually keep a small bowl on the counter lined with a plastic bag (like a Walmart bag) and to empty my grounds into, then I  dump the wet grounds into a 10 x 13 foil pan, shake it to spread them out and let them dry  in the sun. I find them easier to sprinkle over soil if they're dry. I understand you can ask Starbucks for used grounds and they'll give you a large quantity---good if you want a lot. Things to Do with Coffee Grounds: *  Sprinkling grounds over the surface of soil around Hostas and other garden plants is a great deterrent for snails & slugs, who don't like the texture. *   Dig grounds (wet or dry) into the soil in around any acid-loving plants: Azaleas, Roses, Hydrangeas, Camellias, Blueberries & Citrus Trees. Good Eating Monday: White Bean & Meat Stew!

The holidays are over. Back to real life. I'll be working on putting away Christmas decorations this week. Today I'm washing bed sheets & other laundry and also decided this window to do a thorough clean-up around the guest bedroom window. Winter water condensation creates mold on the caulk at the edge and being the window I see least, I think I missed cleaning it this past spring, so it's in serious need of attention. Today's Good Eating recipe is for White Bean & Meat Stew that's based on a Turkish recipe.   I have a little Turkish cookbook written by Gulseren Ramazanoglu that I bought years ago in the late 70's at the Air Force Base bookstore when I was stationed in Turkey that serves as the inspiration point for a recipe that has become by own.   What makes this recipe  deliciously different from plain o' American ham & beans is the tomatoes, Bell Pepper & Paprika that give it a rich, smoky flavor! Today, we're going to talk Turkey, since it's Thanksgiving week---specifically ways to flavor that bird you plan to roast in oven. More Gardening Thursday!

Since I didn't like any of the Mama Kat prompts, we're going to look at garden stuff I was doing today! I ordered a live Stevia herb, a Roman Chamomile and a Caldoon Artichoke that will be arriving soon, so I needed to prep the bed where I plan on putting the artichoke.  The Caldoon artichoke is spineless--meaning it won't be prickly; unlike the class Imperial artichoke that is. I got the Stevia because the one I had for years died and the Roman Chamomile, which is true Chamomile, for a ground cover. I use Grower's Exchange for live herbs. Today's Project: Clean Up This Bed This bed is behind and higher ground then where the raised beds sit. I use it for flowers & herbs mostly, but I want to but the Caldoon here.   That tall shrub behind the bird feeder is a Rosemary.
